Before you begin

Lately, I had a few cases with IAG NEI appliances (NS-1000) that didn't boot with windows. The appliance OS Loader is booting and hanging at the BIOS level, with Acronis error message: "no command for booting operating systems. Press enter to Reboot". The IAG boot automatically but stop after 1 second and you can't load Acronis or Windows. This issue related to corrupted Boot loader MBR.

Important to know!

The IAG NS-1000 appliance from NEI (Network Engines) comes with Acronis software built-in. The Acronis software is used to backup and restore the IAG appliance in case of a failure (to factory default or last backup).

Configuration Procedures

To fix the following situation please follow the procedures below and boot the IAG machine

  1. Download this ISO image from Acronis web site

    http://www.acronis.com/files/support/mbrautowrite_en.iso

  2. Burn this ISO to CD media
  3. Start the IAG appliance with this CD
  4. Follow the instruction from this CD and boot the appliance
  5. The appliance will boot to Windows to last state of the windows system
  6. This step is optional: If you want to get back the Acronis boot functionality, you have to run this command after the windows load:

    "c:\program files\acronis\trueimageserver\activate /f11"
